Step-by-step Ledger Flex setup (beginner safe)
Follow in order. Don’t rush the recovery phrase part.
- Unbox & inspect packaging. If anything looks off, don’t use it.
- Power on and choose Create new wallet.
- Set your PIN.
- When the device shows your recovery phrase: write it down offline (paper). No photos, no cloud notes.
- Double-check word order. Then store the paper privately.
- Create a second copy and store it separately (different physical location).
- Install the official companion app/software and connect your device.
- Create an account and generate a receiving address.
- Verify the receiving address on the Ledger Flex screen before you accept it.
- Do the small test transfer (script below). After it confirms, move the full amount.

These mistakes are why beginners get drained — not because the device is “bad.”
- Digital seed phrase (photos/Notes/iCloud/Drive). This is the #1 risk.
- Responding to “support” DMs. Real support never asks for your recovery phrase.
- Skipping the test transfer and sending the full balance immediately.
